First Line Friday is something every reader can participate in. Pick up a book near you. Type the first line in the comments, along with the title of the book and the author. Then check out the books other readers have featured in the comments on this blog. You might find a book you would like to read simply by reading the first line.
The book I’m featuring this week is The Regency Brides Collection. In particular, I will feature the first story First Comes Marriage by Amanda Barratt.
“A lady never sallied forth unchaperoned. Least of all to a place with the reputation of Vauxhall Gardens.”

Happy Friday!!! Today, I’m showcasing A Mother For His Family by Susanne Dietze. So here I will share the first two lines from the novel next in line on my review pile, Deadly Proof by Rachel Dylan.
“You can’t call that a settlement offer.” Kate Sullivan looked directly into the dark eyes of her opposing counsel, who represented a medical device company.

I like that first line. It really puts an image into my head of what the story will be like. 🙂
My first line is from Masquerade by Janette Rallison. This is the second time I’ve read the book and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first time.
“Opportunity didn’t knock for Slade Jacobson – it rang his cell phone at 10:34 pm while he was putting his daughter to bed for the third time.”

I almost posted this for FLF too! Barbour’s novella collections are fantastic, aren’t they?
The first line of the book I’m currently reading is:
